Why I’m following F1

Wow! There is so much to say about Formula One.

Let’s start with Drive to Survive on Netflix. Go watch it! Just do it. It’s full of drama, action, highly complicated science that will blow you away or keep you on the ground as you turn 90 degree angles at insane speeds. It’s the best way to experience all the politics and little wars that go on between manufacturers, drivers, and teammates.

For me, the coolest part of F1 is the complexity. Every aspect of the sport is complicated and requires some of the most talented people you can find in order to be competitive. It takes the Red Bull team less than 2 seconds to change 4 tires. Every car is unique and every driver approaches the wheel differently. It may be intimidating at first, but once you start understanding a little bit about everything, you will enjoy the sport.

I have been following F1 for a month, and I am still learning so much about it. I have the good luck of knowing some people who have been following it for many years. This makes it easy to ask questions and get answers during a live race. If you ask around, you will be surprised to know someone you know loves this sport and is willing to teach you everything they know if you are willing to listen.

Formula One takes place all over the world. Some of the race tracks are located in beautiful landscapes and interesting cities. There may have a race track in your home country. My favorite track is Monaco. The city is a cascade of buildings overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The streets are narrow and the corners are sharp. Watching this race is enjoyable.

There is so much more to say about F1, but the best way to experience it is to watch the first 3 episodes of Drive to Survive. If, after you’ve watched three episodes you are impressed, then you will enjoy the sport. The next step is to watch live races and let curiosity run wild. You will eventually love the sport and follow it as I do.
